International African Arts Festival. Held over July 4 weekend in Brooklyn. Exact dates are usually announced in late winter.
NAKO Kwanzaa Celebration. One of the largest and longest-running NYC events. Held annually in Brooklyn one evening during Kwanzaa (December 26-January 1) and usually features a keynote lecture by Dr. Maulana Karenga, the author of our textbook.
